You can't just change power companies and they know it. Im new to Myrtle Beach. I tried paying my bill on the phone last night but it wouldn't let me change accounts. So I get up and drive to them this morning and they want take credit cards at the window. They charge for all credit card transactions. They know they can do that because you can't just up and change companies.

They are the only choice, so there is no choice. They charge extra to get the power from Santee Cooper. They charge extra fee to use your debit card and only allow that over the phone. You can only pay with cash or check when paying in person. If you are any amount late, large or small, they will shut off your power without notice and charge a $30 reconnect fee then it will be hours later till possibly after 5pm before they turn it back on! I have little kids, and 75+ year old grandparents watching them. Typical corrupt Horry County! Have fun with these people bc you have zero choice!!

Pre paid electric was down to a few bucks and I had to go out of town for a few days for a family emergency so I called and talked to a "manager" Dana to see if my best option was to save those few bucks and have the electric cut off til I returned or leave it on and let those few bucks run out. I specifically asked (which was also recorded that 3 of us listened to) if there were any penalties by cutting it off verses letting it run out and she said no penalties. Came back home and was told there would be all these fees for reconnection and I would have to fax my lease over as it would be just like new service. Because I didn't SPECIFICALLY ask abt reconnection they refused to turn my service back on without paying all the fee. Based on technicality it cost more money and frustration to disconnect the service and was most certainly not empathetic of my situation of having a new born baby due to that family emergency so I had to stay elsewhere until I could come up with all the money to get lights turned back on 3 weeks later. Awful company!!
