  Fantastic time ! Very accessible, clean sites. The beach is pristine! Rangers were knowledgeable and friendly. Camp store is equipped with everything you would need or forgot. Many trails to hike right from your campsite. The lake views were beautiful!

  I have been here twice: 1st time was 08/2019 for camping and hiking by the lake. And today (11/05/2021), I got to visit it thru the Hop On/Off Trolley Tours from Mauch Chunk Railway Station. The lake was formed after the dam was built in the 1970s after a huge flood destroyed Jim Thorpe, accord to what I learned from the trolley driver. There’s a very nice campground by the lake where my friends and I camped for a weekend, and Switchback Railroad Trail passed right by the lake. You can also go fishing on the fishing decks and play on the beach or swim in the lake in summer.

  Less people, less crowded. Much better weekend experience here than at neighboring Beltzville, most likely because you have to pay to get in. It’s $10 for adults and $7 for children if you’re visiting out of county. It’s about half of that if you live in Carbon County. Downsides are…. Lots of bugs, the grounds aren’t exceptionally maintained and you cannot grill. Still so beautiful there none the less.

  Thank you for the review. If you visit our park again, and would like to grill, you can use the charcoal grills in the picnic area. The picnic area is included with the daily admission fee.
