The dealer told me that the wiring harness to the transmission was bad and the transmission was probably bad too.  Took it to Terry's after finding out they would replace the transmission for a much better price.  They second checked the diagnosis and found that the problem was just a speed sensor in the transmission.  Significantly cheaper repair and the car is running great!  I will definitely be doing business with Terry's again.  Bob and Rob were both very friendly and they and their crew went the extra mile to make sure I wasn't overspending.

Bob and his son helped me to understand the price of transmission on Oct 2020. They replaced in one day and got my car back running.

Now they replaced my old engine for reasonable price with spanking brand new engine. My car has at least 250k bc I travel a lot in my car from Virginia to New York and Mississippi due to my family.

They are most dependable and professional.

So I went to Terry's Auto Repair last week with CEL + ABS light issues, and after their diagnostics check the owner, Bob, said it was the front and back oxygen sensors. after ordering them a few days ago, the sensors came in today and they installed it promptly. But they took it a step further by cleaning the front 1 and just replacing the downstream oxygen sensor; effectively cutting the cost in half, and solving the Check-engine & ABS light issues. They followed up the service by offering a free check up if the issue returned, but thankfully I don't think I'll need to for a while! Overall the staff & service at Terry's are very respectful, down-to-earth and down to business, yet considerate of the customers' auto needs so there aren't any unnecessary costs or hang ups involved.  Because of these qualities and more, I most definitely will be returning to Terry's for my auto maintenance needs, and would recommend the same quality service to others in the Hampton/Norfolk area.

Bob is a great guy and his son Robbie is also. Probably one of the most honest guys I’ve met. They have done a lot of work on vehicles I’ve owned. I highly recommend there guys. They won’t do you wrong.

I saved at least $350 dollars coming here on a state inspection. Took my 1990 carolla to pep boys for inspection, the estimate was 600 for the inner tie rod replacement on both sides (i had a quote for a single tie rod replacement at 600 with the final price coming out to 800 previously). I called Terry's since i  have seen them on my way home from the shipyard and they gave me a very, very reasonable estimate. I paid the estimated amount, plus tax,  within 1 day of service. If i let pep boys fix my car i could have easily spent the same amount my car is worth. Thank you to the crew of Terry's. Money is tight and you helped me out. I will take my car, my finances car, and recommend to anyone to call here first. Thank you for your help!!!!!!!

They have a sign saying they aren’t responsible for stolen or damage to your vehicle. That’s because they steal things from your vehicles. I had a 9mm magazine in my door panel and it was not there when i went to pick my car up. They charged me 80 dollars for oil they supposedly put in it. I believe they didn’t even work on it. Another mechanic looked at the plastic under the car and said it was never removed. Next time I’ll go to a professional mechanic that has a good reputation

I called you this morning to invite you to watch the video of your car being serviced, basically you blew me off the phone. The video will be available for the next 10 days, it will show the mechanic getting in the car, servicing it and parking it, will be happy to show it to you. Seems to me a good mechanic would do the job and correctly reinstall and clean up the component they worked on, make it look like they were never there. Heck, bring the "mechanic" that looked at the car, maybe he can give us some pointers. I have video showing what we did. As for your magazine we "stole", we have plenty of magazines ourselves, no one here needs your stuff. Please come on down and I will be more than replace it. In fact, if the video shows I didn't do the work I will not only give you back your money, I will add $200.
We take our business seriously and treat our customers the way we would want to be treated, that's what I did for you.

Took my vehicle in for a state inspection. A few hours later I received a call from Bob and was told that my brake line was leaking terribly. I was troubled by this after checking my driveway for any signs of brake fluid and found nothing. Bob informed me to come take a look. When I got there I was shown the leak and was dumbfounded by brake fluid pouring out of the brake line. It was quite obvious that one of his guys damaged the line somehow. Bob would take no ownership that one of his guys damaged the line. I was also told I needed new motor mounts in order to pass state inspection. I grew very suspicious when his mechanic was unable to show any signs of wear or damage to the motor mounts. There was no excessive movement in the motor when starting etc. When I started to question Bob he got very defensive and standoffish. I was told by Bob that he wouldn't repair the brake line and that I would need to take it elsewhere.(said he doesn't repair brakes)
Now imagine my frustration. I drove the vehicle there in perfect operating condition and now its completely undriveable!
Bob had his mechanic lower my vehicle, back it off the lift and they both walked away. It cost me $125.00 to get it towed.
Fast forward two weeks; I had my vehicle repaired and inspected by a dealership. I was informed that my motor mounts where in great shape and did not need replaced at all!
It became quite clear to me that Bobs main concern is lining his own pockets. He took no ownership of anything that happened Do not trust Bob or his mechanics. Do yourself a favor...steer clear from these guys. Incompetence and dishonesty at its finest!!

Kent, you did bring your truck to my shop to be inspected, that's the only true thing in your review. When we got in your truck to move it the brake pedal went to the floor. We were able to get it in a bay and in the air to see the issue. We found that one of your brake lines on your 20 year old truck was rusted and brake fluid was leaking. You were called and we showed you the rusted line. No one at our shop sabotaged your truck, it's 20 years old and has RUST! Also, I did not say I don't work on brakes, I simply recommended a shop that has equipment to bend new brake lines. Now if I'm only here to "line my pockets" why did I recommend another SHOP!
Kent, when you question my integrity, you're darn right I'm going to get defensive and standoffish. My staff and I do bust our butts to do a good job and do not take kindly to someone slandering us. Kent, please do us a favor, steer clear of our shop, I don't need dishonest people as customers. Bob
