  I'm not sure where these 5 star ratings are coming from- family and friends I am suspecting. A Splash of Color was hired by my general contractor to paint my new house. I should have known when my first interaction with him was when he showed up the first time to paint at 8:30 at night. I told him I almost called the police on him and he told me it was OK he knew all the police in town, should have been my first clue this wasn't going to go well. He wouldn't show up when he said he would, he was all full of excuses as to why he couldn't come. My favorite excuse was when he tried to tell me he got a total of 7 nails in all four tires after driving in my driveway and parking where I usually park. One may have been believable, but a total of 7 in all four, come on. His work was terrible, he had to come back several times to try to fix his mistakes- they usually ended up worse after he fixed them. I am attaching four pictures of just one door in my house- this is just a sample of how bad my new house looks. My husband at one point took the brush from his hand and fixed some drips that Joel "couldn't see" and told him he could leave now. I now have a brand new house that I am going to have to repaint because the job is so terrible, my advice is to stay away!!

  Are you kidding me? Case of slander here. I'm thinking so. Your husband never once took the brush out of my hands. I can guarantee that would never happen. The drips you are referring to that I supposedly couldn't see were glue from your trim guy which I have pictures of and your husband clearly knows this because I sanded them down and showed him. I had to come back several times really like to clean the tile guys grout off of the trim that you thought was a paint issue or to fix where you damaged the walls multiple times moving in or the hairspray you got all over the walls. Not to mention the substandard materials that were used building your house i was expected to fix like bubbles in the wood of the doors or cleaning up the texture all over the walls and trim or cleaning the damn house up because the rough in crew left their scraps laying everywhere or bad trim work and banged up trim. Or to fix other issues created by you for example the pictures you posted of the door where you shut them while they were still wet because you are trying to move in during the construction phase of a new home sleeping on an air mattress and moving stuff in before its finished and they dried together and the paint peeled when opened. Then you want to insinuate I have issues with the police. Well just so you know I grew up next door to several of the top police officers in this town and am friends with them which I told you that night. By the way 830 at night is not uncommon time to work on a construction site what is camping there and coming in with a dirty great dane shedding everywhere while the house is being painted.. You were by far the worst customer I have ever done work for and every contractor and your builder said the same thing and would agree with me. They all dreaded working there. I tried very hard to please you and you know I worked with you. Fifteen rounds of touch ups for things that 90% of had nothing to do with me is a bit ridiculous. Also so you know none of my reviews are from friends or family I didnt even know this existed until Google called me and said someone left a bad review were you aware of this. No ma'am I wasnt but I bet I know who it was guess what I was right. And by trying to give me a bad name my customers think you are nuts and said wow one negative review in 10 years that's amazing. Also if youd like I can attach the message I sent you the day I got a bunch of flats from your place with a receipt for four new tires dates matching and the reason they were replaced. Not to mention all the dog hair I had to work around. Your own husband told your builder that you were going overboard and that he'd try to keep you under control. I heard him myself Seriously making the tile company replace any tile that was off by the thickness of a credit card come on now. By the way I didnt get paid to do your stairs that you are throwing a fit about drips on they were not in my contract i did them to be nice. Sorry you are so hard to please thanks for the review it helped my algorithms and I have been getting more calls than ever from Google thanks to your recent review much appreciated. I also attached pictures of her "horrible " paint job that needs repainted as well as a picture of the ungodly amount of dog hair I had to clean daily to be able to paint.

  I've been more disappointed in Joel than in any other vendor we have used. He took our money and never finished the job after repeatedly telling us he would be back. He had "one hour" left when I paid him and now over one month later he has never returned. The sad thing is he did a great job cleaning off and painting our deck. If only his integrity would have held out to finish it we'd be referring him to everyone we know. There is no way I could refer anyone to him now.

  I would rate ZERO stars if I could! The owner, Joel Stephens, is a total con artist. Just look at the fake 5-star review he posted for himself. Hired him last year to do painting, flooring, interior, and exterior work. After months of excuses, delays, and outright lies, I told him to take a hike this spring. Only partial interior work was done (and poorly I might add). I have pending litigation to recoup my deposit for the exterior work that was never done. I even offered to take installments to pay me back for the unfinished work. After more lies saying he would pay, he told me the company was folding, had no assets so don't bother. That was in April. Yet, he is still operating and ripping people off. The worst part is I feel he took advantage of my situation. I am a widow and lost my husband of 46 years only a few months prior. This was devastating to my finances and has caused great stress on my family. Stay VERY far away, you have been warned!
