  1st day of service I call for a smart meter to be installed, Alliant said it would be installed 2 days later.... Call back a week later and it wasnt installed, Alliant said they would send someone out...2 weeks after that I call again and they say that they are sending a letter in the mail for me to confirm that i want the smart meter then it will be 30 days until it is installed. Why was a letter not mentioned the first time? Why have i been sitting here for 3 weeks and the letter has not arrived? Alliant couldnt even tell me if the letter was in the mail which leads me to believe its not even in the mail yet and i will have to wait another week just for the letter to come in... But don’t worry, they AREN’T going to make me pay the extra 6$ a month for the non smart meter i have installed. What a convenience.

  We’ve been having really bad issues with our power surging, and I be had two different electricians come check everything out that they can, and both have said Alliant needs to replace a wire. I’ve had Alliant here twice now and everytime they take the meter off and do their tests and say I need to call the electrician back because they’re not electricians, but it’s not an Alliant problem. We didn’t have any issues at all with our electricity we had the wiring and everything checked out a couple years ago perfect. Last month however our transformer got hit by something we don’t know what, but ever since they “fixed it” our power has been surging and they refuse to do anything about it!!! So tired of their incompetence all the people I have talked to on the phone have been very polite and helpful, but when the actual techs get here they just do what they can as fast as they can with no care at all except to get out as fast as they can. Get your act together Alliant!!!

  My autopay was shut off causing me to miss a payment, THEN they automatically enrolled me in paperless billing a few months later which caused me to miss another bill. My budget billing went from $95 in Oct 2017 to $170 in April 2018 to $245 in Oct 2018. My wife and I are the only ones in the house with brand new windows we spent 10k putting in and all LED lighting and our bill is still outrageous. despite paying $250-$300 a month we still have a back balance of over $1000 due to mismanaged billing and poor account management. Alliant is a predatory monopoly and the people of south east Iowa should open a class action lawsuit for their fraudulent billing practices.
