I’ve been a member of Amicalola EMC for 4 years now. We decided to build another home near ours. When we called amicalola about hooking power up to it, they informed us that they wouldn’t do it because the house was under 1000 sq ft, so they don’t consider it a “main residence”. What kind of a policy is that? I have permits from the county stating that it’s a main residence, but now I can’t move into the home on time because of amicalola. Not only do they refuse to hook up electric at this time, but refuse to give us an estimated time or put us on a wait list, but just say “we don’t know when or if it can be done” what kind of answer is that from a utility company ? They don’t seem to care about their customers. I’d go with someone else if possible

It is very easy to "bash" the power company as they are the often times the recepient of problems related to inclimate weather. As is the case with all utilities, it is impossible for Amicalola to perfectically anticipate all harsh conditions or the growth potential in their servicing area. We have found them to be more than generous and very prompt, polite, and professional in dealing with a recent problem stemming from a death in the family which resulted in non-payment for service. Once we contacted them, they were very sympathetic - expressing condolences - and worked with us to have service restored to two seperate accounts that were long past due. we were back up and running within hours and the technician who came on site was extremely sensitive and kind. I know that Amicalola is "the only show in town" but they have proven to be very capable and competent is our situation.

Very slow to solve the energy service, we are a family with children and the cold is harsh. They must be more professionals in fixing all the power failures.
