We had several problems with B-More Electric of Poulsbo, Wa., installing a full-house generator. Do not use this company! See how bad the reviews are? They are true! They did know the proper place to put the generator to comply with county safety requirements. When they had to change the estimate because of their mistake, they sent one double the amount it should have been. They bought the wrong automatic transfer switch. Their own employee even said so, but the boss denied it. They insulted us and responded to every mistake they made with double talk. Long version: When the B-More guys came out to look at our property and give us an estimate for the project they said they’d place the generator next to our house and next to our propane tank. It turns out a generator must be at least 10 feet from a propane tank to pass inspection. The company apparently was unaware of this. They then suggested putting it on top of our septic tank. Again, they didn’t seem to know that too was not feasible. The propane company suggested moving the propane tanks about 15 feet away. B-More suggested moving the generator instead, which required a trench be dug to bury the lines. B-More sent us a new estimate that included parts and labor for a 35 foot trench. If we hadn’t checked we would have paid double since, again, the trench was only 17 feet long. When we questioned the estimate B-More refused to admit it had made a mistake (or maybe it was deliberate?). The boss tried to say it was our pickiness that led to the generator having to be moved, rather than the LAW and safety concerns. At the start, B-More purchased the generator and transfer switch for us at a 25% markup and said an annual inspection was the reason for the sizeable markup. When the electricians arrived to begin the first stage of installation the leader of the team said because they had purchased a 100 amp transfer switch we would have to decide what rooms and/or appliances we wanted to include in the circuit. We were shocked. We had contracted for a FULL-HOUSE generator and had paid more than $5,000 for one that was more than powerful enough, but since B-More had purchased the 100 amp automatic transfer switch instead of a 200 amp, is was a plain waste of money to buy this large generator. Its capacity couldn't be used. The electrician — B-More's own employee! — actually said, “If it was my house I wouldn't use a 100 amp switch.” He recommended using the 200 amp. Which, of course, would cost more money. When we asked why B-More bought too small of a switch, we never got a satisfactory answer, just a bunch of double talk. Through our own investigation we discovered the generator they bought came with a 200 amp transfer switch as a package deal. But B-More didn’t purchase that deal which was well-highlighted by the generator company on its website. Instead they bought the generator and a smaller 100 amp switch separately for the same price as the deal that included the bigger and pricier switch. It was actually EASIER and SIMPLER to get the proper package deal. We never gotten a clear answer why. When we tried, we were insulted. At this point, we realized we had to get other opinions and both of the two other electricians we had inspect our property and the partial installation separately agreed. They couldn’t understand why B-More did what they did. We paid B-More for the work they had done and got another electrician to finish the job. No way we want these people near out wiring.

The electrician DROVE ON MY GRASS along most of my long driveway because his apprentice parked on the other side of the driveway instead in one of my MANY parking places on 5 acres. Bmore was hired to do 3 things. 1. Replace main breaker - that went fine, but they did not tell me time about fees for power cut off/permit until I got the bill 2. Add boxes for dining room lights. a. He installed the wrong size boxes (5 inch instead of 4 inch) so I had to buy different lights b. One of the boxes as too small for the hole, so he had to come back and replace that one. 3. Move switch location a. He was told no junction box, which he ignored (we were not there when he finished because he kept running to Lowes and we had plans, so our daughter was there). He had to come back and do as we asked. b. He didn't put in the correct 3 way switch so one switch didn't work, he had to come back for that too. They charge by the hour and it seems I was charged for his inefficiencies, contrary to what the owner said when I complained about all of this. After complaining, the owner gave us a 10% military discount that I wasn't offered originally.

Techs were friendly and fast but the quote the tech gave us was way less than the invoice amount we ended up with. Their less expensive price was the reason we used them over another company. Will not do business again and will definitely get a written invoice before any work again!
