  I've never had a power company care about me before. I'm used to black hills energy, aka The Machine, and I feel so lucky to not have to deal with them anymore. I might have to see to it that I never have to again. The co-op wants your business, and they're more interested in making sure you have what you need than than black hills energy. Their customer service is a small band of angels. Very grateful to do business here. Highly recommend people choose the co-op when possible.

  BHEC drastically hiked prices this last year. Our bill increased almost 40 bucks a month. We run everything we always have. While this may not seem like much to a low income family it is a lot. Our bills use to never be more the 90 a month it's now a min bill of 130! We do not use ac or anything that uses large amounts of electricity because of our income status. While it hurts we have always appreciated the company working with us when we needed. That has changed as well. Recently our family has fallen on hard times because of a medical condition. I called to make a payment arrangement on a bill due in the next few days. The lady informed me they are cracking down on past dues and would need it a lot sooner then the date requested which in past it was never an issue to request 3 weeks. She also stated that they understand the price hikes have hurt people like our family but it was not their problem! The price hikes were simply to pad the execs pockets a little more on the backs of low income families. They should be ashamed of themselves. If you are fortunate to have the option do yourself a favor and go with a different company. Our family will be looking into other options for our electricity in the near future. Solar panels are becoming cheaper! Have a family member in area that has them and they supply everything her household needs!

  Really? Far from 5 stars. Rates are high desk girls are snoody. And to charge $35. customer fee each month is insane. They have peak and none peak service rates that are the highest rates in the state. Service is spotty. Same ol Custer greed here!
