!!!BEWARE!!! I am currently dealing with a nightmare of a situation with James, the owner of Oakland Electrical Services. Back in MAY of this year I contacted James to quote me on a generator for my business. When I asked for the generator quote I was very specific about wanting to "future proof" the business (i.e. have the capacity to add more coolers and possibly an addition to the building) After coming out to my business, James quoted me a 22kw liquid cooled generator. Having trusted James suggestion I told him I was ready to move forward. Here is where the nightmare began.. What should have been an immediate RED FLAG to most, I completely overlooked. James had asked me to give him a deposit for the ENTIRE amount of the generator before he began the job in the amount of $6,000! What could go wrong? He was a licensed electrician, right? He was very specific about purchasing the generator right away after I paypal'd him the money. So I trusted him and I sent the money on May 30th. After James received my deposit for the purchase of the generator the delays and excuses began. James had originally promised me that I was all ready and my electrical panel/setup was prepped for a generator install (i.e. I didn't have to do a massive electrical overhaul to install a generator). I had my electrical box replaced with a "gen ready" panel a month prior. I was told that I was just "days" away from having the generator delivered and installed. However, James started coming up with all of these reasons he couldn't come out. Reasons such as the rain, outside DTE wire issues, etc.. etc.. On top of his excuses for not coming out, James told me that he didn't want to deliver the "purchased" generator to my business until it was ready for hook-up. Fast forward to JULY! I started to become weary of the situation as James wasn't treating my gen install as anything close to a priority and seemed to drop all communication with me. On July 3rd after many prior unsuccessful attempts to reach him, I finally got a hold of him and explained how upset I was at the whole situation and how I wasn't feeling comfortable that he had $6,000 of mine and I had no generator to show for it. I suggested that he at least deliver the generator to my business, but again, he told me that I shouldn't just have it sit there as it might be stolen. This logic seamed reasonable to me but in order to feel comfortable I wanted proof of purchase to know that he really did buy the generator with my money. After some arm-pulling, he told me he would provide the proof of purchase. That day (July 3rd) he forwarded me an email from City Electric with a quote for the generator, and that it was "ready for pickup". One thing I noticed immediately was that the generator in the quote he forwarded me from City Electric was not liquid cooled like the one in his quote. I was concerned about the ability for it to handle my future plans for the business (let alone its current load) so I demanded that he show up to the business when I was there to run another load test to determine if his original quote was even valid for my needs. After turning both of my A/C units on and other devices (TVs, smoke eaters, etc.) He determined it was pulling nearly double the wattage of his original quote!!! According to him, I now needed a 50,000kw generator! Not only did James misquote me for liquid vs air cooled; he misquoted me for about HALF of what I truly needed! At this point, I was livid. I was back to step ZERO. I told him that I was going to start looking to purchase a generator myself and that I wanted my deposit back. James reluctantly told me that he would refund the $6,000.00 and I had him state this in an email. It is now August and James told me his "WIFE SPENT THE MONEY"! I called City Electric only to find out that he never even purchased the generator! I called the State of Michigan to verify his license and they told me they couldn't pull up a Master Electricians license for him by name! He wont provide me with a proof of purchase or his electricians license number!

Highly recommend this company. The technician was easy to get ahold of and was able to to get out to my house fast and make all the electrical repairs I needed to complete my city electrical inspection. In addition to the fast affordable service the technician was friendly and very professional. I will definitely be calling them for any electrical service work I may need in the future.
