BUYER BE WARNED!!! Duke Energy turn me over to collections for a PAID BILL, I paid the collection agency immediately, but I remembered paying the bill!! When I produced the paid receipt and showed the bill was paid and asked them to correct the mistake I was told, “you will need to call the collection agency and get it worked out.” All I can say is keep all your receipt and keep good records because DUKE ENERGY will expect you to clean up their mistakes!

Absolute garbage. Worst company I have ever ever dealt with. If I had ANY other option of power providers I would take it. I'd rather roast my dinner over a fire every night than deal with their ridiculous "customer service", and the automated lines when you call in are not helpful at all. One of them had me on a round about for 20 minutes. Asked me what I needed to do, I told it, it said it would need to connect me to a person, but in order to connect me with someone it needed to know what I needed to do. 20 minutes of that. I cannot wait to move some where where I do not have to hear the name "Duke Energy" ever again!

There was no option for 0 stars. Do NOT enroll in Auto Pay!! I tried this service, pay flat monthly amount for set time frame and at end of time frame settle difference. If overpaid you get refund/credit, if owe amount you pay difference, sounded good. Time frame would have been after tax refund so I wasn't concerned. However, BEFORE time frame ended they increased set amount. Furthermore they no longer drafted set amount and ended up with disconnect notice! If that wasn't enough, I setup payment plan to try and just keep service still unsure on how that could happen after being in Auto pay and not at the end of time frame. At time of payment plan they said I owed almost $400, and had to make a payment to avoid disconnection, which I did. However almost 5 WEEKS later when I had to cancel service they have me owing almost $900!!! Didn't realize the amount until it showed up on my credit report as I haven't had service in over a year and now there is nothing I can do! They are a conglomerate and so I have to pay it. I called them and was told their records indicate the amount on my Credit report was accurate and was able to get my bill emailed to me. Even once I looked at Bills emailed to me, it still shows $344 at end of Dec when I talked to them being what I owed, which I agree with, but by some new math I don't understand, by February when I ended service it showed me owing almost $900!!!! This makes NO sense!
