Been using Design Air for 20 years. Since they got bought out by Gold Medal they are simply in full blown up sell mode. They started the up sell before they even walked in the door and my unit that was working upon their arrival suddenly stopped working upon their departure, on Easter weekend, no less. They also know push you into a year contract vs the 6 month contract they had previously offered. Seems as though they went corporate and although I never felt that I could not trust them, they have lost my trust completely. I called and spoke to Chris from dispatch and told him my feelings and he hung up on me. Great representation of what this company has become. Stay away! I have already started contacting friends who have cancelled appointments. I will be leaving this review everywhere.

I have been a long time customer of Design Air and was just charged $20 for a gas surcharge for the service call. I was not told this was part of the cost and feel it's outrageous price gouging. I understand what's going on with gas prices, but does it really take $20 in gas to come to my house from within Rockland County!?! A $5 surcharge is understandable, but don't try to justify a $20 gas charge when it is clearly not warranted. I guess the Design Air I knew and trusted disappeared when Gold Metal took them over.

Over the past 12 or so years, our experience with Design Air has been good, and we've used them for many things (AC, boiler, generator). However, since they were bought by Gold Medal in 2021, all appointment requests are routed through Gold Medal's call center, which is sheer torture. Long hold times, repeated disconnects, and customer service reps who have difficulty navigating their systems and finding our information and even making the appointment. Terrible. We had to call another company to work on the generator when it stopped running a few months ago because it was so hard to get through at Gold Medal. More recently, as of February 2022, the call center seemed to have improved slightly when we called for boiler service. I hope that continues. We like Design Air and their technicians.
