Spent close to $20k to repair a leak and damage from the leak in an addition including all new siding and windows. A month later a leak re- occurred in a corner where a lot of his work was done. Edgar agreed to come out and look and if it was from his work he’d fix it because his work is guaranteed. He came out, opened up the walls and we figured it was leaking from cracked exterior brick mortar. He would not cover it which I understand bc it was not in the contract but he also didn’t offer to fix it for additional money. On top of that, he informed me he needed to charge me $100 just for coming out to look and additional money to close the walls back up. That information was not presented before he came out and basically left me in a position of either I pay him right then or he leaves my walls opened. I refused to pay and he left my walls unopened and the leak still not fixed after $19,000 worth of work. I’m ok paying for his time and materials if I was informed ahead of time and not after you’ve checked your work and opened up my walls. I know it’s not a big spot but as far as following through for your customers and making sure you solve their issues, he failed. I think it’s bad business to leave a customer in this position especially after spending the money I did. His work is guaranteed and good work but be careful, if there’s follow ups and it’s determined it wasn’t from his work, he will charge you for his time. I would not recommend him.

      Response from the owner

ED Contractor Business Culture: Completed work is always guaranteed Will return to completed job site to conduct “after completion inspection” to confirm quality of work If determined that ED Contractor “is not a fault” and it “is not a quality of work” issue, the after completion inspection now becomes a “Service Call”. Goal of a Service Call is to determine and locate the root cause for the problem A service fee is associated with a Service Call During a Service Call -- ED Contractor will determine and locate the root cause for the problem and provide recommendations to resolve the problem. Mr. Brendan McGinn recently purchased a home with extensive water damage to the interior walls in which was on the verge of collapsing the entire side of the interior wall, rendering his home uninhabitable.  Upon job completion for all repairs in the scope of work, a final job walk through was completed. It was determined and agreed by Mr. McGinn that the quality of work was excellent and no leak found in the areas that were repaired by ED Contractor. The rational for leaving the exposed wall open is for the new contractor to see the where the leak is originating from the exterior brick foundation mortar, and to be to see the extent of the damaged.  The closing the wall was not a viable option, because repairs are needed as soon as possible. ED Contractor does not provide service repairs for water leaks in the “exterior brick foundation”. This is outside of our business product lines. This is why I did not offer to make the repairs to the exterior brick foundation. To provide additional insight, Mr. Brendan McGinn had another contractor working the extensive water damage to the interior walls who Mr. Ginn “fired the previous contractor”.    Ed Contractor has a policy not to take over any in-complete job projects from other contractors who were fired by the client.  As a professional courtesy to an existing long term client of ED Contractor, who asked me to help out Mr. Brendan McGinn who is family member of this long term client. For over 10 years and with thousands of satisfied customers who have come to know the outstanding ED Contractor management practices in providing excellent customer service and a professional approach to make each project a success.

We have pleasant experiences with Ed for home renovations: bathrooms, patio door, and basement. After renovating the first bath with good quality, Ed resolved the patio leakage for us. Before that, we had sought solutions from other contractors but all failed. Ed fixed the leakage and located the root, which turned out to be the faulty installation of the door. Knowing this, we held the patio installation party accountable and got our money back. Later on, Ed renovated the second bath and the basement for us. We are happy with the results. Additionally, every time we reach out for advice or minor work related to previous projects, Ed is always happy to help and shows up on time. Ed is responsible for his work at a reasonable cost and with guaranteed quality. Based on our experience, we highly recommend ED Contractor.
