READ IN FULL, WITH PHOTOS! It's long but paints a picture. Steve, words of advice: It's not about making a mistake, it happens. It's about how you fix it. I hope anyone reading this doesn't have ANY issues because you might have this fate. Hollander will not help you resolve ANYTHING except to cover their own tracks. I don't review often, only 1 other 5-star, but this is worth writing. I’m sure they’re capable of good work, but not here. First, the silly things, I'll get to the not-to-code/safety stuff later. If you’re going to charge for estimates & not credit it back (something I have not seen with the 4+ vendors we’re working with now - or previously), you should tell people upfront when they make the appt. They didn't. If you are unvaccinated & don’t know if your customers have vulnerable/unvaccinated members of household, you should disclose & wear a mask. They didn't. Now to the work. There were 5 (later merged to 3) sloppy holes cut in 1 wall to make a 'dead' receptacle work. Even sheetrock cracking in the opposite room from aggressive drilling/cutting. They would claim this was because the contactor before them prematurely closed the once open wall and they 'had no choice' but to cut newly painted wall to shreds. Not true. Many people with closed walls need similar work done. Further, I would find out later from an electrician colleague that they did it all wrong & should have gone thru baseboard, with no visible damage necessary. Toby from Hollander later confirmed. They also left the work not-to code, claiming initially that it was correct. They’d only admit this later with photo proof. We only later learned just how bad it was with NO nail plate protecting the exposed wire against the stud. That's just dangerous. There was also work we felt we were clear on during the 1st walkthrough that was never included. It of course was tacked on later for more $. When I brought some of this up on my call, I got a lecture from Steve about how I'd be hard pressed to find an electrician as good & responsive as him. Like an 'I should be so lucky' speech & all about how precious their time is. Not to mention, ironically, we had to spend our whole work day & valuable time hand holding their tech & helping troubleshoot. Why am I paying for this again? He didn’t show up with a scope of work, not to mention, expertise. During my call with Steve, despite the issues, I was pretty much told to just pay the guy. There was also TBD work penciled into the quote that was found not to be problematic. It was further suggested that I should be lucky they didn't charge me for it...even though no actual work was done. They literally said, 'if we weren't a stand up company, we could have found something wrong with it'. Like it was a favor NOT to rip us off. Um, thanks? There was a junction box also left a complete mess & no-to-code, yet we were billed excessively for the 5 whole minutes to make the mess of it. I could have saved myself time & money & just watched YouTube to learn how to do it better. It would have been easier, more time efficient & cleaner. I paid the full price & still have to pay to repaint & fix their mistakes. They ultimately returned to patch the wall, ONLY because they realized the tech left it not-to-code and botched it so bad. They left some of the wall still cracked and literally sped off without even saying a word or finalizing things once done. They did not refund one dollar, apologize or respond to calls/emails to finalize. They were actually angry with us & said WE were rude. Steve, learn to tell the difference between rude & upset. I think this experience would make ANYONE upset. Hollander clearly does not understand their customer's legitimate frustration. Let alone take accountability. In fact, there was zero accountability for the terrible service, the damage done, the loss of our time, none of it. And they incentivize cash payments with discounts, which we fell for, so I now have no recourse to get anything back on this. Steve is very clear that he plans to keep all the money on this despite everything.

    Response from the owner

These are photos before we repaired the wall, even though I was clear we did not include repairing the wall in our quote. I responded to the other false review you left. My other reviews tell it all. Once in awhile we wind up working for people that are impossible to deal with. Abusive and rude to us. You should be ashamed to leave such a review of lies. Look at all the other reviews and you can judge a crank from a real review. All they want is to get us to work for free. All she screamed about to our techs the whole time was how much money she spent on the house and want us to work cheaper. Can't do enough for these folks.

Great experience! Even though I had a simple fix, they were very professional and polite. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Diagnostic price seems a bit steep.

Hollander Electric did an amazing job. Steve was very responsive and attentive. He took care of my home as if it was his own and cleaned up after the job. He took care of all paper work, permits and was available for inspections. I will continue to use him for future electric jobs and highly recommend Hollander Electric.

    Response from the owner

Thank you Alyssa. Always a pleasure to serve a customer like you.
