  They clearly do not care about their students. Even in elementary school this would be enough to be an excused absence. I guess the death of someone close to you doesn’t matter to them.

  David, thank you for noting your concerns with the IEC Electrical Apprenticeship Program attendance policy. IEC cares about each and every student working through this program; the attendance policy ensures that each student meets the required training time required by the Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship. This requirement helps to make certain that our IEC students finish with the skills and certification that they intended. While IEC requires students to maintain perfect attendance throughout the curriculum year, we understand that emergencies may cause a student to be absent. Because of this there is an allowance of a maximum of 12 hours a student can miss each curriculum year. IEC understands family emergencies occur and the attendance policy allows for those emergencies without excessive penalty. We wish you much success as you continue your apprenticeship training.   I did my Apprenticeship there , took the Prep courses for my Electrical contractor license there now I'm back for continuing Education Class. Terry Rogers is one of the best mind when it comes to the National Electrical Code ( NEC). If you are planning to take the license exam, go take his class.
