So, I'm enrolled in the apprenticeship program since 3 years ago and I can tell you that it's worth it... Teachers work with you throughout the lessons, they stayed with you after class to make sure you get it right and everything is clear. Lab is pretty equipped, organized, clean and has enough space to work comfortably. If you work for an Electrical Contractor and they give you the opportunity to get into this program, don't hesitate to do so, you'll learn a lot, you don't have to pay but a tiny amount of it, the books are free (except for the NEC) and it's just once a week. I will also make an observation about the cleanness of the restroom, that's something that they can and need to improve.

Great school. Teaches in-depth on everything an Electrician should know from fundamentals of Ohm's Law and theory to actual hands on applications with real world equipment in the lab. Excellent base to start a career into the trade whether on the Job or in the Office.

I have been the Senior Instructor for the Dallas IEC for over thirty years, having taught the first year apprentice program as well as the master electrician exam prep course. My students have given me great reviews, and I can count the number of complaints from students on one hand. I was recently sent an email telling me that "my services are no longer needed". Period. No explanation. When I emailed Jerry Thomas, our Executive Director, he replied, and I quote, "I do not owe you an explanation, and I refuse to discuss the matter with you any further." If this is how the Dallas IEC treats an instructor after over thirty years of faithful service, I would think twice before signing up as a student. Daryl Howard
