You really don’t appreciate the investment of a whole house generator until you actually need to use it! During Hurricane Michael’s visit to the Carolinas we lost electrical power for a little over 3 hours on Thursday. Our generator came on within seconds of detecting the power outage. We were able use everything in our house seamlessly. When the power was restored hours later the generator turned off automatically. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to purchase a generator. I should also add that our first service of the unit was just a week ago. The technician did a wonderful job, replacing oil and filter, checking the battery and running a system check. When he was done the unit looked just as it did when he arrived, brand new! You can’t go wrong with this local company!

These folks worked on the generator in my RV. They replaced a voltage regulator, which should have been a quick fix. Just take it out and plug in a new regulator. Maybe an hour. Instead they charged me for the whole day, $900 to quickly swap out a cheap little part. They put the generator on a tester for an hour and charged me for that time. Then when they put it back they apparently had the air filter over the intake and blocking the airflow, so it would cut out under any load. They spent literally hours arguing with me and charging me for that time instead of trying things to see why it was cutting out. "Must be the AC in in your RV." "Must be something wrong with your electrical system." "Let me tell you stories about generators we've worked with in the past." Wasted hours of my time with this, and charged me for it. I needed AC in the summer, so they even had me convinced to spend $5,000 on a new generator. Luckily, it was Friday so I had to wait until Monday. Over the weekend, I took a look myself. The basics. Check air, spark, gas. First step was to inspect the air filter. Took it off and the generator immediately ran fine. Put it back on (correctly, not blocking the intake) and it ran fine. Worked for our entire 3000 mile trip home for 9 hours every night. Good thing I didn't take their word and spend $5000 for a new one. I was happy that they were able to help on short notice and they did change my oil and replace the truly faulty regulator, so one star for that.

The people are very friendly and helpful! Getting my generator installed from start to finish took longer than planned. They are expensive! They do stay on top of things though. I have called their answering service and they will get back to you promptly. I am satisfied overall. They are doing somethings that are outside what the manual calls for, ie. they are using an oil recommended for a diesel engine. They said they have better results from using that oil. Well when it differs from what's in the owner's manual then it makes it difficult to do things yourself. Do you go back to what the owner's manual says if you are doing it yourself or do you continue doing what they were doing? Did they "already damage something when they used different oil?" What else have they done that was outside what the manual called for?
