James and Andrew did an AMAZING job! No, they did a PHENOMENAL job! They were super friendly, fast, and efficient! They listened to what I wanted to accomplish, gave me a few options of how we could proceed, and got to work right away. The whole experience was truly remarkable from scheduling with Jason to the pre-service reminder notification, to James and Andrew showing up. Shockney Electric, Heating, and Cooling are a group of notch professionals! I’m extremely pleased we decided to give them a call!

We contacted Shockney about AC, Heat, and new ductwork around May of 2019. We were told it would be at least December when they could get someone. Fast forward to this spring my wife called and was told we were still on the list. She's been told that someone would give us a call back but we never receive any calls or if they did no voicemails were left. It's almost a year and a half later we are no closer to getting the project done.

On February 3rd. 2020 at 0951 I spoke with a woman who was taking calls and obviously doing scheduling for services. The cliff notes version of our phone call to get services to a property address in Winchester Indiana was very unusual. After giving the lady all the information I had regarding the issues we are having at the home, this via the tenant and our maintenance guy. The lady I was speaking to on the phone was earnestly trying to get me to diagnose the problem I was having. This back and forth went on for about a minute which I politely explained "If I were a electrician I would not be calling your company if I knew what the problem was because I would fix it myself". She snapped at me and stated "Why don't you just call another electrical company then"! I was really taken back at her tone toward me. I then explained "I deal with a lot of contractors as our family has a lot of rental units. I have never had a contractor have me to tell them what the direct problem is when I do not know. That is why I have the contractor come out to fix the problem". The lady then explained "We are so far behind right know is the reason why I am asking this". My thoughts to myself is you never tell a potential new customer something like this. So I asked if she would be able to send somebody out to fix my problem and she stated "No, not without knowing whats wrong at the home". As you can see, I realized I would be going in circles with this conversation with her. So in conclusion, I will give this company a 5 star review on advice as I decided to take this lady's advice and call another electrical company in the area. 2/19/2020 - Update to the owners response. Always like when the owners respond and they leave a few details out and in this case "add" a few things. Yes I called on 01/31/2020. I made it very clear to the lady I spoke with on the phone that there was no emergency at the home, this per my tenant. She stated she needed more information than what was provided at that time, She was pushy about needing to have someone on site to talk to regarding what was going on with the electrical issue, wanting my tenants phone number. I also told her my tenant did not want his phone number given out and he would not be there on site because he was a truck drive and gone. I stated I would try to get my maintenance guy down there Friday to get her some more information but more than likely it would be over the weekend. Not once did she tell me on 01/31/2020 that someone was in the area and that it would be a few weeks before she could get someone to the home. My maintenance guy got to the home on Sunday and did get me some more detail in which I relayed to her on 02/03/2020 as she requested. I called her back on 02/03/2020 please refer to the paragraph above on 02/03/2020. Not once did the conversation escalate. Bottom line, she was rude on a phone call with a customer. I have a 126 rental units in Ohio, Indiana, Virginia & Florida. I also am a full time luxury Realtor. So I deal with a ton of contractors and services industry people. Never have I had to go through that much trouble to get an electrician out to a site. I did call another electrician in the Randolph county area. I explained to the electrician over the phone the same information I gave Shockney. This contractor said "okay, we will get out to the house and check it out" No one needed to be on site with the electricians. Contractor called me up after checking things out and come to find out it was simple fix with a new electrical component. I thanked him for fixing the problem and paid the man! Now that's the way it should work with dealing with a contractor.

    Response from the owner

Michael Sorah originally called me in the afternoon on 1/31/2020. The description of the electrical problem at his rental could have potentially been an emergency. I asked Mr. Sorah to please provide me with a name and phone number of a local contact that I could give to our electrician to call. If it was an urgent matter, he would have responded on Friday. However, Mr. Sorah didn't call me back that day. Mr. Sorah is located in Florida. He was relaying a message, which is why I asked for someone local. When he called back on Monday, he didn't give me any additional information, he just asked when we were going to go to the rental property. When I told him we hadn't responded yet because I didn't have a name and phone number, I think he got offended. The tone of the conversation escalated. I told him it might be best if he got a different contractor. I did make it clear on Friday that we were very behind and that if it wasn't an emergency, it would be a couple of weeks before we could go. That's why it was important to have the electrician speak to someone onsite. When I reminded him on Monday that we are backed up, he assumed I was just blowing him off.
