  The technician was excellent. Professional, efficient, and thorough. The scheduling was quick and easy. Have to give this 2 stars because of the rates. $525 to install a junction box, wire, and a new outlet in an open space (no wire fishing) and less than 10’ distance. I priced the cost of materials - less than $30. Yet they charged $150 for “installing” (no conduit or fishing required) 10ft of wire. $100 for installing a junction box, and $150 to install a surface mount receptacle. All this on top of the $129 trip charge. This was a very simple job; less than 2 hours in and out. I expected to pay between $250 and $300. I was so shocked that I called to see if there was a mistake, they assured me that there were no mistakes. It is a shame because the service was great, but the prices for this simple work tell me I can’t afford to go back to them for future or more complex jobs.

  Here at South Hills, we use a very common standardized pricing structure. Much like most of the industry. We do NOT purchase our parts online or from some box store. All of our parts are purchased through HVAC/Electrical supply companies throughout the Pittsburgh area and most are OEM parts. Those supply houses have to make money also, in which case there is a mark up we must pay. I’m sure your experience with our technician was much different than any other service company you've dealt with. We take great pride here at South Hills Electric in being one of the best in the business. Sometimes that means we cannot be the cheapest. (Although we are certainly not the most expensive!) All of our employees are drug tested, background checked, uniformed and go through weekly continued education courses. All work is documented with pictures, videos and notes. All of which are available to you at any time through our website. All trucks are well marked, clean and fully stocked to preform almost any task on the spot. I’m sure you will not argue that your technician was friendly, on time, called when on the way, informative, and provided you with up front pricing which you signed for and above all else able to answer any and all questions you had. As mentioned earlier, we are in the business to be one of the best. With that said, we only employ the best. Believe it or not, trades men also receive health insurance, life insurance, company vehicles (which must be maintenanced) gas cards, company cell phones and iPads, vacation time, the proper tools, and the education and ability to preform the task properly the first time! Not to mention the MANY things internally that must be taken care of. Office personnel, phones, lights, rent / mortgage, office supplies, licensing, permits etc.

  David and I needed work done and called South Hills heating and cooling, which had a service man, Anthony, who arrived a short time later, finishing 20 minutes later after installing a led light over kitchen sink. So impressed, we got an estimate for a new thermostat, furnace and air conditioner, we decided to have the job started 2 days later. Matt, Stephan, and Jacob showed up discovering a bad hot water tank which they included into an already big job. They worked continuously, pleasant and informative, very professional. So pleased with the job well done. We are already planned on calling for our next job. Thanks to the above gentlemen and to Donna for her sincere interest in helping schedule everything so quickly.

  The furnace failed at one of my rental properties on a wintery Pittsburgh weekend - hours before a significant snow storm. South Hills Electric was responsive and effective in repairing the furnace and restoring the heat for my tenant within hours. Jake, the repair technician, was prompt, informative, and professional in his diagnosis and repair. I happily paid a reasonable emergency service fee for knowledgeable service to restore the heat to protect my tenant and my property. After years of using another company, South Hills Electric will be my go-to for HVAC.
