I thought my old power company was subpar until I moved where SEC runs things and man I miss the old power company I had, this company I swear racks on random amounts of $ to your bill, been here for 4 1/2 months and have had power go out frequently and randomly , they want their money fast but can’t commit to being a decent power company! The worst part about it is we are literally stuck with this company until we decide to move again in the future !!

We have been without power for 9 days now! And no water due to having an electric well pump. Burning hundreds of dollars in hotel bills and lost food. No end of this in sight! This is ridiculous!! Please let us know when this could be over. Ford VA. Update: Since the ICE Storm my power goes out for a small breeze coming through or a lite rain. This power company is absolutely ridiculous. I pay upwards of 275+ a Month to lose power once a week .

I have never left a google review but felt compelled to do so now based on recent reviews. I am a cooperative customer, nothing more, and am in no other way affiliated with the company. They have always been very responsive to power outages and restore power as quickly as possible day or night. The reviews posted over the last couple of days/hours are from people who obviously have absolutely no concept of the enormity of the ice storm and it's impact on the cooperative. My property is located in a rural area and on Saturday 2/13, in the period of about 6 hours I had to remove 8-10 trees from our road just to get out and in. I would clear 2 or 3 and an hour or so later there would be more down. There were numerous trees across power lines in the length of about 1/2 mile. Sunday was even worse. This is just in my and my neighbors little square mile so multiply that by the entire area the cooperative supports which was completely impacted by this storm. Their job is inherently dangerous under normal circumstances and it would not have been safe to begin restoration services in the midst of the storm while trees and power polls were still at risk of falling. And just because you don't see a truck doesn't mean they are not working on your power...power comes in across lines for miles and there could very well be multiple lines down over the length of any customer's feed. Each of us has a responsibility to be self prepared. If you are in a situation that you or any of your resources/products cannot last through an extended power outage, then maybe you should invest in a generator to support your situation in these rare instances where the power company is overwhelmed. From this cooperative customer to the men and women working to restore our power: Keep up the hard work and please be safe!! I know you're doing the very best you can and my power will be back up just as soon as possible.
