I have written this review partly from disgust and partly as a note of caution for future customers. Having decided to invest in a bathroom remodel 2015 it was our decision to have the work contracted through Lowes Company. We felt having a larger company's expertise overseeing the contractor would give us an added level of assurance should something be awry. Jointly with Lowes Company we selected a contractor who was well known in the area, who had numerous high ratings and one that was not only a short distance from us but we also knew. Shortly before the work had started a contractor switch was made by Lowes Company, one which we were not made aware of or given the opportunity to approve. This contractor was not located locally. An explanation for the switch was not provided to us. T&H Keith Inc. , Freedom Indiana had been assigned the construction contract. Once we became aware of the change, although already in the pre-construction process our voiced concerns were reassured many times by referring to their expertise regarding the bathroom remodel, which had been described to us as to be completed in "around two weeks" . It soon became apparent to us during the construction process the workers were evidently experiencing "on the job" training. The project ultimately would take over 4 months to complete. (May 20-to- October 1) The overall cosmetic appearance of the completed construction/remodel was "acceptable" to us although having just endured over 4 months of almost daily inconvenience we may have reduced our standards, just so they would leave. The main issue developed recently when I noticed while outside one afternoon what appeared to be water coming from outside the homes siding. After a lengthy investigation I was able to trace the leakage to the upstairs shower area. Further examination would reveal the leak source to be behind the remodeled shower faucet fixture area now concealed by the cultured marble panel. It would be necessary to destroy the remodeled cultured marble shower wall to expose the fixture and repair/stop the leak(s) which was completed by a licensed professional plumbing company . Upon exposure of the faucet area it was discovered that the plumbing work had been completed by using "quick connectors", a total of 8 connectors were used with at least 4 showing signs of leakage. A "post mortem" of one of the leaking quick connectors in addition to my conversation with the manufacture and review of the product installation instructions clearly indicates the problem(s) I believe. It appears the receiving pipe(s) have not been prepared as is described and required by the manufacture. The example examined had not been "the tube must be chamfered, de-burred and reamed. These steps are essential to ensure the proper connection... " as part of the necessary preparation required to achieve a lasting watertight seal according to the manufacture installation guide. I believe this may be attributed in part to "ignorance" regarding the worker not being a certified professional plumber. This improper installation could explain why four quick connectors installed show signs of leakage. The worker had cut out the previously installed watertight "sweat" joints replacing all with quick connectors. One could certainly expect plumbing to have a somewhat lengthier life span than 5 years hidden behind shower walls, provided it is properly installed. Repeated efforts by me to the contractor by both voice mail and email, to T&H Keith Inc. have gone unanswered from the owner. Any indication of voluntarily settlement have also gone unanswered. I suspect court action will be necessary to resolve our restitution regarding thousands of dollars of damages caused from poor workmanship.
