We have used Honey Do Service twice now for bathroom jobs. The workers are great. The work performance is fantastic. The quality of work is great. The only down side is there is a large gaps between the appraisal and the start date. Beside that I recommend Honey Do Service.

UPDATE: Honey Do Service promptly contacted me about rectifying the issues mentioned in my earlier post. Many of the original problems stemmed from a lack of clear communication on all sides; once management clearly understood the nature of the problem they addressed it immediately. An experienced electrician, Ray, was able to efficiently make needed changes. I especially want to thank Brittany for taking our complaints seriously and working diligently to ensure that we were completely satisfied with their service. Scheduling can be a daunting task and yet she responded quickly and professionally. Honey Do Service has proven that they are in business for the long haul by quickly addressing issues and standing behind their warranty. Thank you Honey Do. ORIGINAL POST: Initial contact with the Honey Do Service was good. Office personnel responded quickly with both phone calls and a follow-up email to schedule an estimator to look at the proposed work. (We were replacing old acoustical tiles in a basement drop ceiling.) The estimator (John) arrived on time, answered our questions, and provided a detailed statement of work (SOW). We specifically asked how long it would take to complete the project. He said it would be 1 day with 2 workers. He also estimated it would be about a 3-week wait before work could begin. The second estimate was accurate, the first was not. We received a call on a Wednesday asking if the following day would work for us. It did so we assumed 2 workers would show up. Johnny arrived on time but the second worker, Bill, did not arrive until approximately 1:00 p.m. We were told that he was still working on another project. Because of his late arrival, he was only onsite about 3 hours and in our estimation his contribution was negligible. Johnny was diligent and a hard worker. However, because the estimator had not been thorough, we discovered that the work to be done would take extra time. We have 5 can lights and 2 HVAC vents in that ceiling. We did not realize that the 5 lights were never installed/mounted properly. The estimator never removed the existing tiles to examine anything above them. The improperly mounted lights were not an issue with the older, heavier acoustical tiles; however, the new tiles are vinyl, paper thin (like a credit card), very lightweight, and can be cut with a scissors. We told the estimator all of this and even showed him pictures of the product online. These new tiles cannot handle the weight of anything resting on them. Johnny did his best to hang the lights properly but it was extremely time-consuming, which impacted the schedule. We blame the estimator for this oversight. In hindsight, tile installation could have been paused so that management could be clearly informed of this situation. We would have been amenable to re-scoping and rescheduling the work to include having an electrician properly mount the lights. Johnny arrived alone (again) early the second day and worked diligently for about 4 hours to complete the project. Although the majority of tiles look beautiful, those affected by the lights do not. The lights are not completely flush to the ceiling tiles and small gaps/holes are visible. We have used another service company, CertaPro, for all of our painting needs. They have quality assurance personnel on staff who show up IN PERSON while the work is being done to ensure our expectations are being met and to handle any unforeseen problems that may occur. They also have the authority to amend and re-price a SOW while the work is being performed. This is excellent customer service and a model that the Honey Do Service should employ. We are pro-business and try to support small businesses when we can. However, this experience was less than ideal. We ultimately signed off on the work but will remain hesitant about recommending the Honey Do Service to anyone in the future. We don’t consider hanging ceiling tiles to be a complex endeavor. We certainly would not trust the Honey Do Service to perform a more complicated task like an entire bathroom remodel.
