  Update: Customer finally called and paid, said order fell through the cracks and that the employee was no longer with them. Original review: If this company cheats it's suppliers, do you really want to do business with them. Customer ordered custom made item over the phone for rush delivery and then does not pick them up or pay for them. Does not return phone calls either. I would not hire this company!

  My experience with Vankirk started off great I was hired as a lead fire alarm technician by josh fort. I ended up leaving my last job to come here was hired full time with a offer letter and contract basically stating that after 90 days I would get my salary that I agreed I would leave my job to come to Vankirk electric for. After 90 days I never received my salary we agreed on with a contract that was given by josh fort that he signed and I. Tried to reach josh fort got ignored for two months. Finally was able to speak with he was advised I had a great 90 days but wanted me to wait to give me my salary agreement until I learned how to program. That was not even in our contract But I learned it. I learned how to program in about a month still didn’t receive my salary agreement. Spoke with josh fort about this situation he advised me it was a freeze on raises I advise him I wasn’t asking for a raise I was asking for my salary agreement after my 90 days. So I continued to do work with no help didn’t get any help until my 8th month of working with them and was still able to pass all inspections I never failed one. So finally after 11 months of working with Vankirk I sent a email basically stating I would love to receive the salary that I agreed I would take to leave my job and added josh fort and Jospeh McCall and jarred Baffin in message next day Joseph called and said josh fired me for sending my salary agreement through email which I never Received a handbook that said i never couldn’t discuss my salary agreement through email or with anyone also read my contract it says he couldn’t even fire me over the phone I had to be called in office and sit down with owner and project manager. The low voltage section of this company sucks because of josh fort he is telling lies to get people there and fulfilling them. Also I took over a job that had 5 technicians on it that couldn’t figure it out I got that and completed the whole building that no one else josh hired could but he didn’t want to give me my salary agreement if I was you Wes Vankirk I would get rid of josh fort.

  They have only superintendents and project managers, you know the upper management people. They sub their work, at least in Charlotte NC to a spanish guy who hires illegals to do all the work. Their superintendents have no control or authority over any of the workers and if you try to make the workers do a sub-par job at best then you get in trouble. They build multifamily condos/apartments all over and I wouldn't live in one if they paid me to do so.
