  It had been a really long time since I’d been to this library, but I recently went after moving back to Terre Haute to get a library card. The staff was friendly and helpful and showed me all of the great apps and services you can have access to when you get a library card. Building was clean and they had a great selection of popular, new books!

  The internet for our whole neighborhood is out and I’m going to school online so I packed up my two kids under four and drove here expecting to use the nice kids area so the girls could play while I took a test. The room is closed to guests because a home school group will be using it for a few hours. 5 shool-age kids are using the room for projects and homework while moms show up with other toddlers and babies expecting to play there but are not allowed. Do you know how hard it is for a mom to get the kids bundled and out the door to get here, only to find out it’s been reserved and there’s no way to have known ahead of time?? I’m not sure how to weigh which group benefits more from exclusively using the public space. Can I reserve it for my toddler’s private home school experience? They would likely tell me no. Why not? Isn’t this opening a can of worms when we start discriminating against what is most important?
