  The permitting department is a complete joke. 4+ Weeks for a simple permit. All the other counties and cities are half the time with less help.

  I am a home owner and do it your selfer. I have submitted a couple building permits over the years for small structures and a house this year. Dealing with inspectors and the related permits can be frustrating at times, but if you do your research and ask lots of questions, the staff is reasonable to deal with and patient when you make a mistake.

  The building inspector is vindictive and so full of it. Have you ever of special inspection of the spacing and depth of drywall screws. He then tried to say he inspected every job site for drywall screws. They never did the intital inspection but still made us wait 4 weeks for the permit. This was a learning experience, beware of any time you deal with the building inspectors of Walla Walla County. They will add 3 times the projected time when they show up 3 days after they say the will come by for inspection and increase the cost by 30 percent with demands that outside of the project area and norms. I have asked myself more than once, how can Walla Walla County expect grow when the building department drowns even small projects unrealistic expectations.
