    #neveragain #buyerbeware Let me begin by saying that I am usually very reluctant to write a negative review on a review platform, but today's experience with Wesmart was egregious enough to come to this, especially as most of my interaction was with the company's owner, Wes. He and his company repaired the panel for our backup generator. Though I cannot yet comment on the quality of the work, as the repair was just made an hour ago (it seems to be in good working order at present), the reasons for the negative review are threefold: 1) Hidden costs/deception: after performing the work, we were surprised that we were being charged ~$200 more than we anticipated/estimated. The owner, Wes, told us that instead of being charged for the 1.5 hours they were at our home during the repair (he arrived at ~10:20 am and finished up ~11:50 am), that he was charging us 3.5 hours (inclusive of 2 hours of commute time from Woodbridge (which is 30 minutes away) - and this at a nearly $100/hour rate). He then noted to me that he had actually left at 8 am and was discounting us an hour's commute. This would have been nice, if true, but it was a lie, as I actually called his office at ~8:45 am (twice) at which time I spoke with his assistant Cassidy, and then Wes himself! When I mentioned this inconsistency, he became nonresponsive and accused me of abusive language (I did not curse or disparage him in anyway except for noting that the transit costs were not disclosed as being included in the total price at anytime prior to the moment he presented the bill to my wife, that charging for commute time at the full labor price was not market (in our experience), and that his calculation of the commute time was double the actual commute time) and hung up the phone. I believe his actions were driven in part by our not being under contract with his Company, as previous attempts to get a breakdown of estimated fees were met with unclear responses and a push to go under contract - we did the math - not worth it. Do note that we ended up paying Wes, in full, exactly what he asked for as I'm not the type of guy to stiff someone who provided a service to us, but we did not tip him (which we were prepared to do). I admit I regret not tipping his assistant Carlos. 2) Rudeness: I was not at home for the service call, but according to my wife, Wes barged into our house/yard without greeting my wife or notifying her of his presence (though Carlos did) and essentially acted like she didn’t exist - not acknowledging her in any way until he asked for payment (isn’t it basic manners to greet your client, especially when stepping into their home?), and once we mentioned being surprised at the amount of the bill, he completely disengaged (since he had received a check from wife already), slammed the car door in her face as she was trying to talk to him, and drove off without further discussion. Understandably, my wife is more angry about this experience than I am. Perhaps Wes is just a grouchy curmudgeon but that’s not excusable in the service business. 3) Lack of communication/arrival estimate: though his staff (Cassidy, Erica & his helper Carlos) were very helpful and congenial, in contrast to other service companies that provide precise ETAs, Wesmart only provides a 4-hour window of when the technician will arrive (no better than the cable/utility company). It goes without saying that we will not be engaging them again, because even if the work was done right (it likely was), it was not worth the mental angst that we (especially my wife) just went through. I'm certain you can find other companies that not only do good work, but whose actions/words you trust and whose service leaves you feeling satisfied. Update: We received a formal invoice/receipt/work summary from Wesmart a few days after the repair by mail.
