This week Yavorski Builders “renovated” our home and replaced 12 of our original home’s windows. They completed the job in 2 days and they look great. Despite the heat, they were very efficient in minimizing the time we were cooling the outdoors. Looks great, and more important, the moisture between the old glass is gone. They also replaced my rotted “man door” entering my garage.

Quick word of advice: Make sure you pay this guy to build the house/addition YOU want, otherwise you'll be paying A LOT of money for the house HE wants to build. That was our mistake, born out of inexperience and exasperation at finding the "right" builder. It's been about 4 years since Yavorski builders put an addition onto our existing house. We didn't take the time to write a review until now for a couple of reasons. First, we really needed the space and he and his crew got the job done pretty quickly. For that we were/are grateful. Second, because the awful experience I had dealing with Steve Yavorski was somewhat tempered by the "meh" experience my wife did. I didn't want to write a bitter, jaded review. But now that quite some time has passed and I still find myself irritated at what could have/should have been . . . time to write the review. Go back to the first sentence. Make sure you insist firmly that you are paying him to build the house YOU want, not him. Period. Yes, the major idea and floor plan was provided by us and he went with that. But ALL of what should have been the fun details, the bits that we wanted to make it ours- he decided, usually without telling us first. So my wife and I would come home to something already done, and if a hesitancy was expressed about it, Steve had quick excuses on hand as to why "it had to be this way" or "have to follow the code" or "I'd have to undo all of this" and then implying the extra cost would be passed on to us. Our fireplace- his choice. Bathroom shower, vanity, faucets, etc- his choice. Type of doors and latches- his choice. Where the outside unit of heat pump was going- his choice. Type of recess lighting- his choice, and not even proper recessed lighting. I could go on and on. Also, be sure to insist on something more than thin plywood. As nice as our house looks from the exterior (thankful for that), the walls and floors seem to be paper thin. If you are in the upstairs bedroom you hear EVERYTHING from downstairs guest room and living area. And vice-versa. Lastly, don't expect the price quoted to be the final price. There were loads of thousand $$ additional "expenses" added on. I'd say we paid over $25,000 over agreed price quote. So, final word- You are paying loads of money to have what YOU want built. Don't be afraid to be speak up and insist on that (or get it ALL in writing in advance). And for God's sake don't worry about being "nice". Get what you paying for! Good luck.

Our home of 17 years now was decreasing in size as of January 2017 with the birth of our 1st child. We like our homes location so decided to add on a single story addition with a crawl space about 20 x 20. After searching extensively throughout Angie's list and local papers and advertisements we settled with steve yavorski and his crew which I found just calling one after another he was very responsive and confident without hesitation unlike many of the other builders. Prices varied from $150,000. To $60,000.00 with recieving quotes from 4 out of 10 we chose the lowest quote. Work began and ended with a few hurdles and extra costs as everyone should always expect. No problem. He had a detailed contract in which was followed well. Had I had any experience with the procedures there was things I would have changed and been insistent upon challenging the works in progress. It has been 6 years and another child and we are contemplating another addition or moving. For reasons of "you get what you pay for" and haven been down that road experienced we would not choose Yavorski Builders nor recommend them unless your family is in search of square footage and nothing more. Good luck it's a rocky road ahead in more ways than one.
