Unfortunately had a bad experience with Gowdy Bros. We called them to get a test done and they told us they would be out within the month to complete it. A month came and went and we had not heard from them so I followed back up. They had decided they would not do the test because we didn't need anything else done. It was not that they were incapable of completing the work we needed, they just didn't want to do it after they had already told us they would. This is very unfortunate as it puts us over a month behind on our project due to their inability to follow up with us.

We replaced a light fixture in our dining room and in the process fried the switch. It is next to impossible to get an electrician in Bend for residential service. Many electricians told me that it wasn’t worth their time or that they were booked out for months. Gowdy Brothers told me they were booked but that they’d put me on ‘stand by’ and call me when they had an opening. It just so happened on that same day they had some extra time, so they came by and fixed everything the same day. Nick was very friendly and professional.

I am writing this review here and copying in other places in the hopes of sparing others from this company. I cannot stress enough how much I would not recommend Gowdy Brothers. I have been dealing with a 7 month nightmare/saga full of failed promises, no-shows, ignored calls, and now what appears to be an abandoned project. Save yourself the headache and find a company that is more professional. Read the other reviews that say the same thing. Background: I hired Gowdy Brothers in the summer of 2020 to complete a few quick maintenance items after moving into a new house. Nick was the electrician and everything seemed to go smoothly so I would rate this part of the experience as 4-stars. In conjunction with this work, I requested a proposal for a larger list of items such as installing a few new circuits. I sat on it for a couple months trying to prioritize and then re-engaged late October. I was told the work would be T&M (time and materials) and that it could be 6-8 weeks before there was availability. Understandable so I patiently waited. I checked back in during the first part of January and then the issues started. From here on, I have been continuously put through the ringer. I spoke with Melinda several times about trying to figure out when I could finally get scheduled and each time I was told Tim would call me. It took several attempts and weeks to actually get in contact with Tim. Eventually he came by to look at the proposed work and told me he could get it done in a day within the next couple weeks. The weeks went by with no communication so I called to check in. Apparently Tim is no longer with the company (fired or left?). There is now a new Tim (herein Tim #2) that I’m told will reach out to me. This doesn’t happen (see a pattern here?) so again, I have to call a few times over the course of a few weeks to finally be told someone will come out on the following Monday. Monday morning comes and passes, no show #1. I call early afternoon to see what’s going on and Tim says his guy apparently couldn’t make it which you would think would be communicated to your customer so he’s not waiting around half the day for someone. I’m then told that someone else will be out in a few days to complete work (Jerry I believe was his name). He comes out and starts running through an old proposal which is frustrating so I repeat the same things I told Tim. Jerry does one small item and then leaves stating that he will be back the next day with a team. He never shows up, no show #2. I talk to Tim #2 and get a bunch of excuses about how it’s now going to be a multi-day project and this and that. Finally, Tim #2 agrees to just come out himself and take a look. Turns out, Jerry “cried wolf” and the work is like Tim #1 said originally, something a couple guys could knock out within a day. I’m told he’ll have a team out to complete the work the following Monday or Tuesday. Those days go by without anyone showing up, no show #3. After more frustrating calls trying to figure out when I can finally get some work done, Tim shows up with an apprentice after a couple weeks and mostly completes two items. They continually have to leave so the amount of work completed is less than what was supposedly going to happen. I’m told again that he will come out to complete the work in the following few days which becomes no show #4. Another week or so goes by and I check in again and again, I’m told he will come out to do the work on a set day. No show #5 happens. At this point, I’ve lost every ounce of patience I have and ask to speak to the owner (Larry). I am told that the message will be pass along and Larry and Tim #2 will discuss internally and call me back. This call never happens so I call again this week, Tim #2 is out sick and apparently will be given a message that I called. He never calls back so I call again asking to speak to Larry and again, I’m told the message will be passed along. No call back. It seems they have now abandoned the project and are possibly intentionally screening/ignoring my calls.
