Anyone else electric bill went up? My bill is usually about 200. I understand the internet is included in the bill. Now my bill is 500 dollars. This electric company use to be the best in price. Guess they joined everyone else with price gouging. It's bad enough with the terrible prices in food, gas, health care, etc. Plus I never got a letter about the price going up. This needs to be fixed, I'm on a fixed income. I would love to talk to the person in charge of this.

If your a current customer to United cooperative services you most likely have seen the huge increase on your October 2021 bill. Mine was a $20 increase this month. If you remember back in the summer of 2021 we got a notice that a 6% increase was going to happen starting in October 2021. Well, folks look carefully and you will actually see a 100% increase in their delivery charge not a 6% as we were told. Their delivery charge went from $0.0122 per kilowatt in September to $0.02391 per kilowatt in October. Well the way I do math that's a 100% increase not the 6% as stated in their newsletter. A United CSR called me this morning to try and convince me what I was seeing was actually only a 6% increase. In what world is going from 0.0122 cents per kilowatt to 0.022391 cents per kilowatt a 6% increase. United only controls their delivery and facility charges. And their delivery charge increased by 100 percent, period. After I pointed to their delivery charges increasing by 100 % she started taking a different tactic to try to justify their increase. Which I believe are legit increases but not a 100 %. You know, materials, labor, better services. I don't know about the rest of you but I still have 5 - 10 power outages every year. I live on a fixed income and just looking at their new delivery charge I saw approximately a $20 increase. If i look at last years billings this will equate to approximately a $300 increase to my electric bill this year. With prices for everything going through the roof for everything else what is a retired, disabled senior to do? SHAM ON YOU UNITED. Lying to us about this increase should be criminal. What I think they're trying to do is to offset their expenses for their fibre optic internet their putting in for some of their customers. I like a lot you good folks live on an island by yourself or have just a couple of neighbors close by. Well, running new cable to those that live on these islands just NOT going to happen. Return on investment (ROI) and return on capital (ROC) is just not enough to justify these expenses, trust me on this. So as CAPTIVE CUSTOMERS to United cooperative services they are going to continue to ly to use and increase their charges anytime they want to. Face it they know we have no choice and will stick it to us WHENEVER THEY WANT TO.

Not a honest company, avoid at all cost, not considerable to community; price gouged electricity for their own greed. I am sad for the fixed income community.
