Came out to replace a bathroom exhaust fan. Ended up not being able to because he would’ve had to remove a lot of drywall. First appointment was 10/30 @ 3PM. No showed so I called him around 4PM and he said he’s been in an accident and forgot about the appointment. Rescheduled appointment was 11am on 11/2. I called him at 12:30 to see if he was still coming and he said it’d be in the afternoon. No big deal. Still charged me the “minimum” of $125 for 15 or so minutes of assessment. There was no notice of this policy when we spoke on the phone. I ended up calling another company that installed the fan in less than an hour without the excess drywall removal that Joe says was needed. The electrician that installed it said that Joe was just being lazy. Either Joe didn’t know the method or he was wanting the free money. Either way I view it as unsatisfactory, especially when the company that did the install only charged me $40 more than the “minimum fee” that Lighthouse charges and he actually did the worSo many warning signs that I should’ve seen. Live and learn.

Tom, I do and did apologize for not being able to contact you until after my injuries were delt with. I did not "forget" to contact you. I was in an ambulance in transport to the hospital. When we were finally able to speak, I understood your disappointment in not contacting you immediately. I offered you the same option as I offered the 3 clients I had scheduled the same day you were scheduled. I had to work you in as soon as I could. As for our fees, they are quoted to you when you call as they are to everyone. It is 35 minutes to your home. When I got to your home I measured the fan you purchased and compared it to the existing fan you wanted to replace. The fan you supplied was a bit larger than the existing fan. I told you I couldn't remove the old one and replace it with the new one without cutting some drywall. The cut should be covered by the trim of the new fan. You didn't want to do that. I offered to give you a replacement motor at my cost to repair the existing fan. You declined. I felt we exhausted all the options available. I requested our first hour fee (which is one of the most reasonable in the metroplex). I understand that you felt it should be free. Sorry, but we have very reasonable prices and can't go any lower. I am glad you were able to find a contractor that was able to fit it in without cutting a n y drywall. I am honestly not sure how that is possible seeing they were 2 different sizes. Other than you giving permission to cut drywall. I'm glad you were able to finally get satisfaction. Regards, Joe
