They installed a Tesla Charger for us. Within a year of installation, the charger failed and we called in another electrician who re-installed it in such a way that the wires would not get broken. Overall, their work was sloppy and not on schedule. Every time they worked at our place, they left trash behind. Our other electrician takes the trash out with him. I'm now concerned that none of their work was quality work. Will have our new electrician look it over after what he found with the Tesla Charger.

I had some electrical issues in my commercial apartment building. Called sme out on an emergency service call as our house electrician was not available. Sme insisted on pulling a permit to terminate building power (over $2000) and said they would have it off over an hour, 2 people would be dispatched to fix the problem and perform needed maintenance. The power was off about 20 minutes and the 1 tech they sent only changed some bad fuses. This did not fix the problem. He then said that it was the breakers and the building power would need to be shut off and another permit pulled. The tech also took on an incredibly disrespectful attitude. I told him no, and he said, he would have to fix it one way or another. Called the company, told them what happened and that I would be expecting a call back from a superior the next day. I had my house technician out and he discovered that the electrician from sme wasn't even working on the correct breaker panel, the breakers he said were bad were working properly, and the problem was cause by a LOOSE WIRE NUT in a conduit box 20 feet from the area the electrician was working and had walked by no les than 20 times. Months later the only follow up communication i receive is from their billing department wondering where their payment is. Here's my response.
Response from the owner
Anthony, I have pushed this review to the front office. They are investigating and will respond shortly. Thank you for your feedback. 9.6.19 From: Adam Pinsky – Business Owner Hello Anthony – thank you for contacting SME for your electrical needs. I have reviewed your comments and would like to fill in some details. SME was contacted on 12/8/18 for an emergency service call – the boilers in the building weren’t working – this was urgent as it was winter and the building needed heat. Our technician, Duane, responded to the call. Upon inspection, he noticed the 2 blown fuses in the panel that provided power to the boilers (smoke marks from the blown fuses – jpg available). To safely replace the fuses required shutting down the power to the building (this required the City of Seattle and Seattle City Light to be involved). We provided a temporary connection to the boilers so the building would have heat. We noted that the building’s fire alarm panel had a temporary electrical connection (plugged into an outlet) – this condition existed prior to SME arriving on site. We met with a City of Seattle (DPD) electrical inspector and a Seattle City Light (SCL) rep in February (initial request of both the DPD and SCL was made in December) to review the building shutdown plan. Seattle City Light scheduled the building shutdown in mid-April. On the scheduled day, when SCL shut off the building power, Duane replaced the blown fuses, removed the temporary boiler connections, and reconnected the boilers back to normal building power in the electrical panel. The DPD inspector arrived, inspected, and approved our work and signed off on the electrical permit. When the panel was re-energized, power to the boilers was restored. We completed the work that we had been initially requested of us safely and accurately. We provided an invoice in June (approximately 5 weeks after completion), which included costs for an electrical permit, materials, and 13.5 hours of labor – this time included the original emergency call back in 12/2018 and the temporary boiler connection, meeting the DPD inspector and SCL rep on site in 2/2019 to walk the building and plan the shutdown, and the time spent on the actual day of the shutdown and restore the boilers back to building power. The time spent and associated charges are very reasonable, especially considering the administrative time it took for SME to coordinate the DPD and SCL visit and shutdown – this time is not reflected on your invoice. After Duane restored the boiler power to the building panel, you made a request that Duane complete repairs of other electrical items that were not working – items that were not related to any of the work we had just completed. Duane asked that you contact our office to schedule an additional repair call. The DPD electrical inspector recommended that the 2 services and associated equipment be replaced as soon as possible. Additionally, the electrical panel where we replaced the fuses had previously been worked on by unlicensed and unqualified individuals (panel had more than 6 breakers, missing screws, breakers installed upside down – jpg available). Anthony – we answered your emergency call in 12/2018 and provided a temporary solution so the residents in your building would have heat through the winter. We contacted and coordinated with the DPD and SCL in 2/2019 to complete a shutdown of the building power so we could safely replace the blown fuses. We returned in 4/2019 to complete our work during the building shutdown – we replaced the blown fuses and restored the normal wiring for the boilers. We safely, legally, professionally, and efficiently completed the work that you had initially requested of us. We disagree with your description of events and request that you revise/remove this inaccurate review and pay our very reasonable invoice in full. SME would be happy to assist you to make the electrical system in your building safe and code compliant.

First his company changed my appointment three times. The day they were suppose to come, he never showed up! I called SME and they said he was a bit behind on his first job. Ok. I understood this happens. Then they called an hour later to say the electrician had a doctors apt. for noon and couldn't make it till 3:30. I waited till 4. Then they called again to say that he couldn't make it at all that day! I wasted my whole day off waiting for him!! Would not recommend this company if you want someone dependable.
